International Cherry Pit Spitting Day
An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on the first Saturday of [month], repeating indefinitely
International Cherry Pit Spitting Day is the first Saturday of July each year. Yes, that’s right, today we are celebrating Cherry Pit Spitting. There was an annual Cherry Pit Spitting Contest every year at Tree-Mendus Fruit Farm in Eau Claire, Michigan that had taken place every year since 1974. Unfortunately, the farm closed for good at the end of 2020 due to death and illness in the family that owned the farm as well as a polar vortex that damaged many of the trees. Our hearts go out this the family and wish them the best.
It’s not known exactly who created International Cherry Pit spitting day, but it is suspected that it was a member of the family that held the contest every year at the farm in Eau Claire, Michigan.
